Speech Level Singing
THE TECHNIQUE OF LEGENDS
Where some voices have undesirable shifts in quality of the tone, the Speech Level Singing voice moves seamlessly through the chest, mix and head voice bridges, or registers, without any shift in quality and most importantly without strain.
A bridge, or register, is the place in your voice where resonation shifts from one part of your body to another. By learning to negotiate these bridges, we are able to move from one part of our voice to another freely. Basically, if the larynx stays at speech level and the vocal cords come together from the very bottom of the vocal range to the top in balance with the air, you have a connected voice a.k.a. Speech Level Singing.
The Speech Level Singing method is arguably the most renowned vocal technique in the world not to mention the indelible impact it's creator, Seth Riggs, has had on the singing and voice teaching community in the 20th and 21rst century. I consider it one of my life's highest honors to call Seth Riggs a friend and mentor for 20+ yrs.
